Surrey Football Club has been selected as one of the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund grant recipients.
In February, Canadian Tire Corporation announced an additional $12 million commitment to Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund to help sport and recreation organizations build back sport and play in Canada.
Jumpstart conducted a State of Sport study via Ipsos, which revealed the pandemic has not only impacted current access to sport and play but has real long-term effects as well. [Insert organization name] and the communities it serves have experienced the impact of the pandemic first-hand.
We recently received confirmation that we are amongst over 500 sport and recreation organizations nationally to be provided with grant support through the latest round of Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund.
In 2021, Jumpstart has already disbursed over $9 million in funding to more than 800 organizations across Canada through Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund. We are beyond grateful to receive this news and know the positive impact it will have on sport and recreation organizations, and ultimately, on kids across our country.
The fund supports community sport organizations like ours to continue to give access to sport and play for Canadian kids. This grant will go a long way towards helping us continue offering soccer programs in Surrey, BC.
For the past year, we have successfully launched programs such as:
1. SHE CAN Initiative
A program on creating an environment for the advancement of female participation, enjoyment, retention, and personal development through sport. Our introductory She Can Play Camp was a massive success! We have 50 Players U6 to U12 participated, and 40 Mentors (U16 to Women’s Players) were actively present throughout the camp.

“An amazing first SheCan initiative through an all-female spring break camp, we saw many returning players build on their passion for the sport and many new faces introduced to the beautiful game #shecanPLAY !! Two other highlights of this camp for me were the community and alumni that shared their stories at the start and end of our camp days – we saw former national team players, current university athletes (many of which happened to be studying towards sport medicine careers) and old friends reunited this week #shecanDREAM!! It was great to see our camp participants led by an all-female staff, many of which were current or former Surrey FC players and were well supported by Surrey FC Technical Team #shecanLEAD, this is everything we hope for – people involved in sport in some capacity and always knowing that there is an open door to be part of a community that has so much to offer”

2. All-Stars Adaptive Program
“Focusing on Abilities, not Disabilities”

A program that gave boys and girls ages 8-15 with physical or intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop new skills and build confidence in a safe environment, all while making friends. Surrey FC strongly believes that every kid should know the rewards of playing on a team. This brought the kids a sense of accomplishment and sheer joy as everyone comes home a winner! Being awarded as a Community leader in providing all children with the opportunity to participate in sport, especially throughout CovidÂ
and as a recipient of a $15,000 relief fund from Canadian Tire Jumpstart Sport, we’ll be able to develop and improve our current programs in order to reach more kids in our community even amidst the challenges of COVID-19. We are committed to striving and acting as an avenue to healthy living, family values, and success in all aspects of life.
We are so grateful for this opportunity. On behalf of the whole Surrey FC Community, Thank you, Canadian Tire Jumpstart @CTJumpstart #SportReliefFund!
