The SFC Academic Scholarship Awards program has been created so that we can continue to recognize graduating high school players who have made significant contributions to the community, school, and or Surrey Football Club.
The Mann Family Scholarship
Surrey Football Club is proud to introduce The Mann Family Scholarship, a character-based award that recognizes a graduating player who exemplifies kindness, resilience, and a commitment to uplifting those around them.
This scholarship celebrates individuals who demonstrate what it truly means to be a positive role model both on and off the field – someone who gives back to their community, leads with compassion, and inspires others through selfless actions and perseverance.
Scholarship Value $2,500 CAD

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
• Be a current Surrey Football Club member in good standing
• Be graduating Grade 12 in 2026
• Demonstrate strong character and integrity • Show a history of community involvement or volunteerism
• Embody kindness, empathy, and leadership through action
• Positively influence teammates, peers, or community members
• Display resilience and determination in overcoming challenges
Scholarship Focus
Unlike traditional scholarships that prioritize academic or athletic performance, The Mann Family Scholarship is
rooted in character and community spirit.
The recipient will be someone who:
• Consistently supports and motivates others
• Leads by example through humility and respect
• Contributes to the betterment of their school, team, or community
• Demonstrates courage and perseverance in difficult circumstances
• Reflects the core values of Surrey Football Club — inclusion, respect, and service
Selection Considerations
The selection committee may review:
• Personal statements or reflections
• Volunteer or community service involvement
• Letters of recommendation from coaches, teachers, or community leaders
• Examples of leadership, mentorship, or advocacy
• Demonstrated impact on peers or local community
Purpose of the Award
The Mann Family Scholarship honours the legacy of Kulwinder Kaur Mann by recognizing young individuals who live with compassion, strength, and generosity. The goal is to celebrate those who not only strive for personal success but also make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Surrey FC has been involved with developing youth soccer in the City of Surrey for many decades. As a result, the SFC Academic Scholarship has been created to recognize SFC players who have balanced their athletic careers with contributions to their community and academic performance. Two scholarships of $750 each will be awarded to SFC players pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited university of their choice.

Eligibility Criteria
The candidate is registered to a current SFC team or was registered to Surrey FC team in the past.
The candidate has done volunteer work within SFC or in the community (reference letter required).
The student is enrolled in Grade 12 (or equivalent) during the current year.
The student has been accepted and is confirmed for studies at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution commencing in the upcoming term. The student must present proof of post-secondary school registration before the scholarship can be awarded.
Selection Considerations
A selection committee as appointed by the Board of Directors will review all eligible applications and will select the successful candidates.
